Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
