Liz Truss, launched the inaugural episode of her online program with a promise to expose "the evil-doers" working to weaken Britain, the US and Europe. She explained she would reveal how an "worldwide alliance of progressives function to undermine democracy and the public's choice."

"We will examine the Trump revolution and understand how it can be replicated in Britain," Truss declared. "We'll be talking to the key figures of the Maga movement."

Before the series premiere, there was a notably ardent backer. "This is the beginning of a kind of revolution," said the controversial US journalist. His conservative Just the News will carry the Truss's new broadcasts.

Establishing Ties in the Maga-Verse

UK-based allies, featuring a pro-Reform adviser, assisted in her set up the Truss's program. The setup is competent, if somewhat rudimentary. She has gathered 10,000 subscribers in her debut week and her first episode had sixty-seven thousand views in that timeframe.

This marks a humble beginning, but in partnering with Solomon, Truss is being thrust into a mature conservative ecosystem generating and disseminating pro-Trump narratives. Key fixations involve accusations of information control by the established press and a goal to eradicate a conspiratorial 'deep state' – which the ex-PM holds responsible for the swift end of her calamitous premiership.

"Just the News is not famous beyond the Maga-verse, but it does have credibility there, mostly due to its founder, who provides analysis on conservative outlets like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even spoken with Donald Trump," noted Alex Hinton, who has analyzed the Trumpist political wave.

A Controversial Partner

The former PM's foray to import the pro-Trump media model to Britain has drawn her nearer to divisive personalities such as John Solomon.

He set up Just the News in the wake of criticism following accusations of promoting misleading narratives about Joe Biden's anticorruption effort in Ukraine, as well as contentious articles about ex-ambassador to Ukraine.

These allegations were amplified throughout the pro-Trump outlets, with the journalist featuring as a regular guest on Sean Hannity's influential Fox News program. The former president personally endorsed his stories.

Solomon made the Ukraine claims in a number of opinion pieces for the publication The Hill, where he was moved to a columnist role after colleagues complained over his articles. These reports were key in Trump's pressure for the Ukrainians to look into Hunter Biden and his father in 2019. Those demands led to impeachment proceedings against Trump. The Senate later acquitted the president.

Not long after he exited the publication in autumn 2019, the publication stated it was conducting a review of his work relating to the Ukraine issue. It determined he had relied on untrustworthy contacts and noted he "failed to identify crucial information about primary contacts in Ukraine, including the detail that they had been charged or were under investigation."

Joining the Network

His TV and radio guest spots are a example of the right-wing media network Liz Truss is entering. Solomon mentioned his support for the program on a program he presents on the conservative cable network, a conservative television outlet that is the base for the conservative firebrand former adviser Steve Bannon and on which Tucker Carlson also appears. She has already interviewed Steve Bannon on one of her first podcasts.

In linking up with this media figure, the former leader has become a small part in a much wider network of conservative media outlets that frequently share and promote one another's material.

Solomon's own broadcasts have repeatedly hosted personalities such as Mike Benz, a political voice whose disparagement of USAID was used by the X owner as justification for dismantling the government body.

A Global Media Play

While her awkward delivery and career difficulties have invited ridicule within the UK, certain American analysts are taking seriously her attempts to revamp her image as a UK offshoot of the Make America Great Again press.

"It is necessary to treat people like Truss seriously, although you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," said a former Biden White House aide, who was employed in the Obama White House.

"Observers witnessed how in the last election cycle Donald Trump used that ecosystem to disseminate his views. Undoubtedly that ecosystem spreads and shapes discourse internationally. It looks relatively clear to me that the environment in the United Kingdom are similar to what enabled this alternative media ecosystem to prosper in the US."

"The internet transcends national boundaries," Finlayson remarked. "There's a kind milieu within which ideas travel – at times appearing in harsh versions and occasionally in softer tones – but which is interlinked."

The academic said the expansion of the internet-based right wing in the UK lately meant the "potential to have a larger effect is significant."

Global Goals
