The British government is ready to advance with utilizing the total value of immobilized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's military campaign, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They further noted that the move would be carried out in close cooperation with the United States.

British restrictions have blocked over £25bn of Russia's resources since Russia initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had exclusively been taken from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were united in their desire to advance efforts toward employing the full value of the seized Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He stated that additional sanctions in the coming days and weeks would apply more pressure on Russia.

This announcement follows European Union representatives met in the Danish capital recently to consider utilizing seized Russia's holdings for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.

Recently, President Donald Trump called on international partners to seize or utilize immobilized Russia's assets, according to media sources.

The worth of immobilized Russia's holdings in the European Union is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Moscow carried out widespread aerial attacks across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in electricity outages in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.
